If I Was Your Girl Book Blog

The book I read was, “If I Was Your Girl”, by Meredith Russo. This book Is a fiction, romance novel. This book is about a 18 year old senior at Lambertville Highschool, named Amanda. She’s a new student who just moved to Tennessee. The past few years were rough for her because she's not just any normal girl. Andrew was who she was, but nows she's known as Andrea. She was a boy before, but now she is a female who now feels right about who she is, and who she was meant to be. While she's at her new school, she has a mindset of keeping her distance from everyone because she doesn't want anyone to find out who she really was. She is scared to be outcasted again. Along the way she meets a guy named Grant. She slowly gets closer to him building a friendship and a relationship. Amanda hesitates to let herself open up to him, but she starts falling for him. In the process she starts to let him in, and opens up about her past. Whats she's most afraid of is telling him her biggest secret, who she was before, Andrew. If she tells her secret will she lose her love and friendship ? Read it to find out! If your taste in books is a love story with rough patches in between, then this is the book for you! I enjoyed this book because you feel like you're in the persons shoes throughout the story. In my opinion, I think when she talks about her past is one of the most interesting, but a sad part of the book. Overall, i would recommend this book.

The Journey Back

The Journey Back, by Priscilla Cummings was the book I read, and is a fiction story. This story is about a 14 year old boy named Digger. He pulled a prank on his neighbors little boy that resulted in the little boy dead. His consequence was to go to a facility far away to discipline and make him rethink about his actions from the incident. He didn’t intend to kill the boy, but the prank went too far unexpectedly. Shortly after a month he escapes from the facility. During his escape he encounters many dangerous obstacles that risk his life. He’s eager to get home because he’s concerned for his siblings and mother since he has an abusive father. He wants to return to stand up and help his family. Along the way he meets a dog who follows him through his journey. His injuries cause him to stop and take a brake, so he hides at Riverside Campground. He also meets a girl (Nora), and boy his age (Luke) at this campground. He also gets a job working with rescued horses. Certain things that come up during his escape make him realize and rethink about his past, and his problems he has. Asking himself, what is it that I’m really running from? The lesson of the story that I got from reading this book was don’t run away from your problems because if you do, you’ll face them again in your future that won’t lead to anything good, so benefit for yourself. One of my favorite parts of the book was when Digger saves Luke’s life because he is drowning. It’s a big turn over after that incident happen, that’s when I think all the important situations happen.  I overall thought this book is a great book, it leaves you hooked and wanting to keep reading!

Slice of life🧐

Yesterday I was at dollar tree with Alyssa and her mom. While Alyssa and I were walking through the aisle a random guy told us “did you drop a dollar?” And we looked as he point, but there was nothing there. He starts to laugh and so do we. After we’re done laughing he says “I was just kidding, have a nice day!”. He told us that so that we would have one laugh of the day to make our day.

Slice of life

After being best friends for 6 years, we faded (drifted apart) for 2 years. Now we recently started talking randomly again. We still had a connection like we did before and hung out. That was a highlight of my week. It’s great to reconnect with someone and built a friendship again.

My One Word

My one word is strive. I chose this word because I think it’s a powerful strong word to describe what my motivation is towards my goals and accomplishments that I want to exceed and achieve. This specific word strive is all about me making effort in things I do and achievements, but that’s also what it means. This connects to all of my goals. I gave a lot of goals, but my main goals are saving my money, building a better relationship with my mom, get good grades and be successful, try photography, and lastly be more organized at home. I chose these because all of these goals take part in different situations and problems in my life that I could do better or try better in. These goals take part in different areas in my life, like responsibilities, new attempts, school, and being happy.

What I can do to improve and do these goals is set examples on actions that would help me reach my goals. My first goal is to get good grades in school. Some ways I can keep on doing this or making better progress is stay on top of my homework, study, set apart time to do homework, and ask for extra help if needed. My next goal is being happier by building a better relationship with my mom. Ways I can improve this is by spending more time together, being open and honestly with each other, and trying not to get into arguments. Saving money and being organized at home both fall under the area responsibilities. What I can do to better this is set aside a bit of money every time I get some or be wise about what I want to buy and what I need to buy. To be organized I can keep my room clean, and organize my items in my room. Lastly trying new things, like photography, is one thing I want to look into. These are my goals and areas I will try to strive and achieve this year.

A perfect Christmas

My ideal perfect Christmas would be downtown. This year my mom and I, along with my grandparents, and my niece are going to spend Christmas at my uncles apartment downtown. He lives by the bean, and I would like to go to the tree and bean, while walking around with my cousin. As a meal for our dinner I would want tamales, chicken, mash potatoes, ice cream oreo cake, etc. after we eat, go down Michigan ave. and shop. While shopping I would want to stop at a Starbucks and get hot chocolate, and take pictures. I hope it won’t be too cold outside so that it’s a good weather condition to walk in. That how I would like to spend my Christmas this year.

The Sun And Her Flowers

The book I read was The Sun and Her Flowers, by Rupi Kaur; the genre of this book is a romance novel. This book is kind of a follow up or second book to Milk and Honey. This book had 4 sections called wilting, falling, rising, blooming. Each section was a sequence of falling and rising. This poet expresses her feelings using lots of similes. My favorite part in the book is, “The universe took its time on you crafted you to offer the world something different from everyone else when you doubt how you were created you doubt an energy that is greater than us both”. This is one of my favorite poems in the book because you should never think less of your self; everyone is made differently and has different ability’s, strengths, weaknesses, and features, embrace them and use it for your better. I  think this books message is to find yourself, and don’t let things overcome you, over come it. This book also talks about loving yourself, relationships, family, self respect, etc. I really enjoyed this book because it was very open.  Overall It’s a very interesting and deep book that will really make you think.
